Spend In: Casa de los Mapas

Ideally located in the heart of Santo Domingo’s colonial city, its elegant spaces combined with its historic surroundings make Casas del XVI ideal for private events.

Long ago, explorers from the Old World established their first permanent settlement in the Americas in the city of Santo Domingo. Today, new experiences await travelers in a unique hotel where colonial charm combines with modern luxury and comfort, offering the highest standards of quality.

Casa de los Mapas evokes history, travel, and exploration. The original structure dates back to the Spanish Colonial era. Located on the grounds of the former Dominican Convent, subsequent uses and constructions transformed the structure. Antique maps, plantation-style furniture, and patterned floor tiles create a tropical colonial ambiance. The house has three bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a living and dining room, an open kitchen, a large patio, and a garden. Guests can enjoy the lush patio and refreshing pool, which accommodates up to six people.

Casas del XVI offers intimate and historic spaces in a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Architecturally, this house reflects very tropical characteristics due to its spacious central courtyard flanked by lush vegetation and a refreshing pool. Its colorful rooms reflect the 19th century. Its name is intended to evoke a journey through the centuries reflected in the maps of the Colonial City, Hispaniola, and the Caribbean adorning its walls. Conceptually, it embraces a nautical and colonial style. In terms of design, we find ourselves before a clear example of rustic and refined, with colorful tiles, handicrafts, and modern paintings that evoke a bygone architecture.
